A visit to Singapore Zoo

Disclaimer: This is not going to be comprehensive. Just what I think is worth mentioning.

Us and the baboons

A family (complete with the young nestling at the mom’s tits), and a triad gang lookalike.

This baboon is ready to mate. How can a come-hither look look like this?

Shopping online with coupons

My mother refuses to purchase things online, as she believes that it can never replace looking at the product and feeling it in your hands. Are you like this too?

I respect that, but if you want a cheaper bargain, there are plenty of avenues to shop at cheaper prices. Transactions are secure, and if you can save a hefty sum of money, why not? Moreover, just click and have it delivered to you, at maybe even no charge for shipping if you use the appropriate coupon.

Merchants like Gap, Barnes & Noble, Hallmark, Liz Claiborne, and Espirit are well-known ones you can be sure to provide you with the quality you are familiar with, and can trust.
For Amazon shoppers, you can get $10 and $20 off your grocery or watch purchase, or even free super saver shipping with $25 purchase.

For the musician, Musicnotes.com offers sheet music downloads and music books. They have over 45,000 digital sheet music and guitar tab pieces available for download and 260,000 sheet music songbooks shipped worldwide. 10% off purchase coupons expires in July 2008.

ecouponcodes.com is your one-stop centre for such coupons to help you save money when you shop online, which should be one of your ways of shopping by now. Updated daily, find the latest coupons and product deals.

Tong Shui Cafe

Tong Shui Cafe @ Thomson

The cosy place has a touch of orientalism, but yet the service crew were all non-Chinese. Other than the convenient operating hours, and the suitable setting for chilling out, I don’t think I wanna hand my money over for instant noodles.

This “Talk Cock Sing Song” place sounds more enticing.

A day with the telephone

I tried being a telemarketer for a day.

This will hopefully demonstrate how I desperately tried to motivate myself:

70 calls.

No. who hung up on me: 1 (not too bad, eh? However, it was my first call)

No. who said “sorry, busy”: 1

No. who scolded me: 1

Common “on hold” tones:

- Greensleeves: 3

- The Entertainer: 3

- Moon River: 1

- Other unidentified midi-like tune: 9

- Radio: 2

- Jazz: 2

- Other tunes e.g. “Kiss Me”, “Uptown Girl”: 4

Guess who was my best friend for the day? An admin lady from Southern China. We had a nice time talking about Singapore vs. China over lunch.

Actually, maybe I should have persevered. Hmm, nah. The office is too quiet, the pathway to the toilets are too clinical, and the toilet itself is chilling.

To the bathroom: Getting there

The last leg of the long journey to the bathroom

Watch Alone, But Not Alone

Be spooked by Alone! The movie, I mean. Rather frightening, though it wasn’t all about the ghost that chills. I think the cruel fact of human nature depicted is what terrifies.

I shall not have any spoilers here. Go watch it, but don’t watch it alone yar? Okay okay, I know the pun isn’t funny lah…

Redang trip updated

Hey, I updated my post on my trip to Redang! Scroll down to read the post again, ok?

My first visit to the new National Library in Singapore

…was spent researching!

I received many stares when I took this picture…and later on saw the “strictly no photo-taking” sign. Oops.

After manoeuvring with so many books carried on top of my laptop, with a shoulder bag slung, and keeping noise to the minimum with the noisy A “N” BC bag with my numerous notebooks, and plopping down on an empty-but-surrounded-by-many-people-seat, I ended up merely flipping through the books. I guess I have grown to rely on the internet for such information.

Such grandeur huh.

Retail Therapy

It’s about buying stuff you don’t need.

I spent over $100 on these notebooks. The biggest splurge was on a Moleskine (pronounced as /mɔleˈskine/ or mol-a-skeen’-a) Japanese Album style notebook ($26.61).

I received this Chinese kungfu-manual-lookalike notebook from PageOne (picture above, right) for free since I spent above $30!

I later found notebooks bearing a resemblance to Moleskine ones (I never say imitation ah) at A “N” BC, called “monologue”, by PaperLuxe (www.grandluxe.com) going for $6.40 and $7.40 for soft sketch and ruled notebooks. These can also be found in MPH.

Then there’s the 2007 Organizer from Prints (”Printed in Singapore bla bla bla blaaaa…”)

I used to obsess over buying boxes and containers. Now, drying up what’s left in my bank account on notebooks like these give me a certain sort of pleasure.

Orlando/Florida Vacation Rentals

After the lovely time in Redang, I’d surely take on another beach holiday, say in Florida — the sunshine capital of the world!

Alternatively, Disneyland (see Disney News) in Orlando can serve as a brilliant getaway from reality too.

Imagine yourself basking in the Florida sunshine in your own back yard.

Imagine the view of palm trees and tropical flowers from every window in your home.

Imagine the lush, green landscapes that could be lying just beyond your very own front door.

Imagine yourself at Orlando villas in beautiful Orlando, Florida. Orlando villa is situated in the beautiful Reunion Resort & Club with spectacular views over one of its three signature golf courses. Reunion Resort is only minutes from Disney and the main Orlando theme parks.
