Early Mothers’ Day Shopping
Mother’s Day is in about a month’s time. Are you planning to get anything for your dearest mother?
I haven’t been too thoughtful about my mother and Mothers’ Day, and every year it has either been a silent affair, or just a phone call. Prior to my arrival in Shanghai, my mother herself used to take the initiative to get the family to have dinner together to celebrate Mothers’ Day. In fact, I think I never really said “Happy Mothers’ Day” to her. Our relationship, or perhaps just our family culture, is such that we simply do not say such things to each other.
If you’re away from home like me, you might want to consider sending a gift to your mother/grandmother via shopping online. Collectablestoday.com’s Mother’s Day Gifts for Mothers, Grandmothers and Moms offers a wide selection of possible gifts with prices ranging from under US$50 to US$150+. IMHO I think the gifts are rather sweet, although very western. There are Precious Moments memorabilia figurines, other memorabilia, photoframes, accessories, etc. The gifts that intrigue me are the music boxes. The music boxes look exquisite and look like they’ll last for a long time to come. It’s not one of those tacky kinds you see in the stores with some ballerina rotating in the centre stage. I’m tempted to get one for myself because it looks aesthetically ornamental.
There are plenty of limited edition items (which I like, because it makes me feel special to possess them) at rather affordable prices, and you can even personalize them by inscribing an intimate message. Perhaps you’d like to get something really special for your girlfriend too? Heh.
