I hadn’t been to Pulau Ubin my entire lifetime in Singapore, so it was good that I finally made a trip to Singapore’s last kampung, albeit for less than 3 hours.
After there were 12 people waiting to board, we departed Changi Point Jetty for a 10-minute bumboat ride to the island. The journey costs $2 (one-way) and offers a picturesque view and a calming breeze.

Pulau Ubin can provide a fresh retreat from the concrete jungle, but unless you intend on hiking, there really isn’t anything much else to do other than taking in the fresh air while walking/cycling, and checking out the old houses and the lifestyle of the inhabitants. We didn’t even dare to try the seafood al fresco restaurants there for fear of being served stale food due to the lack of business there (it was quite deserted on that Friday).
